Hosted by Stefan Crainic & Josephine Haas
About the event:
Human Animal is an ongoing research project that explores what it means to be human. It starts from the premise that humans are highly adaptable biological organisms that rely on movement as a means of survival, a way of knowing the world, and a way of understanding themselves. It recognizes that humans are cultural animals, influenced by forces that shape their perception of why, what, and how they relate to their bodies and physicality—forces that, if not acknowledged and questioned, can lead them away from their bodies.
Through a physical practice, play and exploration, the workshop will begin to examine what makes everyone human. Movement is where this journey starts, but it does not define where it ends. You are invited to ask yourself, why you enjoy moving, what kind of physical activities are nurturing for you and how you can create a practice that allows you to connect with your desires and fantasies - a practice that becomes an integrated part of your lives, supporting your development.
About the facilitators:
Stefan is a former swimmer, capoeira practitioner, and FM instructor, while Josephine Haas is professional dancer and pilates instructor. Their research extends beyond dance and performance into the fields of general motor development, skill acquisition, and applied creativity. Together, they have combined their expertise to lead movement workshops worldwide, working with both professionals and the general public over the past few years.
